Overview

Akagera National Park has a diversity of wildlife including buffaloes, elephants, giraffes, zebras, impalas and many others. After a long time being extinct in Akagera National Park, the black rhinos and lions have recently been restocked. Their sighting is always not guaranteed due to their small number and the hiding character of the black rhino. Enjoy the game drive viewing the natural habitat of different animals, birds and enjoying the view of different lakes and landscape.

HIGHLIGHTS

Depart from Kigali as early as 04h45 and drive for an estimated three hours and reach Akagera National Park by 08h15 and then spend the entire day through the park to depart to Kigali late afternoon or in the evening.

04h45: Pick-up, leave Kigali with a Countryside Tours-Rwanda driver-guide to drive 3.5 hours approx.

Mid-way: Stop-over by Imigongo Art Center for leg stretching and exploring the different art objects in their exhibition hall.

Towards 07h45: Akagera National Park reception, buy permits, register, pick picnic lunch from Akagera Game Lodge.

Spend the day, starting with Ihema lake boat ride, then game-driving in Akagera National Park

Arrive back in Kigali in the evening.

I stayed in the Marylebone ground flor apartment. Although I was hesitant in the beginning, it ended up being like a second home in London. Its spacious, fully equipped with all the all the needs much better than a hotel, and the location is fantastic. Besides having your own entrance l gives a lot of privacy. I will surely stay there again and again..And I highly recommend it.. Less

I stayed over night at the Chelsea apartments on Christmas Eve and it was fantastic. Such a lovely spot, just off the Kings Road, with all the Christmas lights and last minute shopping. The apartment was perfect - a large studio with plenty of space and a great kitchen where we were able to make a tasty brunch before heading off (small welcome pack was provided).
