Description

You will have an incredible experience in the stunning Akagera wilderness on this safari tour to Akagera National Park, where you will view a variety of wild animals and birds in Rwanda. Since Rwanda is mostly covered in hills, mountains, and forests, Akagera National Park is unique in that it safeguards the sole savanna ecosystem in the country. After an exciting border crossing trip through South Western Uganda, this safari also takes you through Kigali city to Volcanoes national park for golden monkey trekking. There, you will engage in another magnificent experience with gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and chimpanzee trekking in Kibale Forest National Park.

Akagera National Park is located in eastern Rwanda , close to the Tanzanian border. It is characterized by savannah, low mountains, wetlands, and woods. Wildlife like zebras, giraffes, elephants, lions, and hundreds of bird species, including the uncommon shoebill stork, are protected by the varied terrain. Hippos and crocodiles live in the enormous Lake Ihema in the park's southern region. A rare and endangered species, golden monkeys can only be found in the Virunga mountain range, which spans the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Rwanda, and Uganda. The only two nations where travelers can trek to see these stunning monkeys up close are Rwanda and Uganda. The bamboo forests and other vegetation at the foot of the volcano slopes are home to the golden monkeys. The monkeys' main sources of food are young bamboo leaves, bamboo branchlets, and bamboo shoots. In Volcanoes National Park, there are two habituated tribes of golden monkeys, with the bigger troop in Sabyinyo volcano having 80 to 100 members.

After acquiring a gorilla permit in Uganda or Rwanda, travelers can engage in the outdoor activity of gorilla trekking and spend an hour with mountain gorillas. Gorilla trekking in the lush woods of Uganda and Rwanda is an experience that is on the bucket list of every East African safari traveler. Making wonderful recollections of viewing mountain gorillas has been a priority for Excellent African Safaris.

The lush rainforest that is Kibale National Park in southwest Uganda is home to a variety of wildlife species that draw many tourists to the country. This national park has made a significant contribution to Uganda's tourism economy because it is home to certain critically endangered species that draw tourists. Chimpanzees are apes that have been domesticated in Kibale Forest National Park and share 90% of our DNA. A total of 4950 chimpanzees live in Uganda, and 1500 of those are in Kibale National Park. Transfer To Akagera, Game Drive And Afternoon Boat Safari

Your two-day excursion to Akagera will officially begin at 7 a.m. Your tour guide will pick you up from your Kigali hotel and take you to the east of the country, to Akagera National Park. It takes roughly 2.5 hours to get from Kigali to Akagera. You will go on a brief game drive before settling into your lodge in order to see some animals and take in the breathtaking surroundings. Acacia thickets and forests dominate the southern portion of Akagera National Park, which is where you enter the park and go on your first game drive, making it unfavorable for most grazing species. Impala, zebra, reedbuck, giraffe, baboons, and black-faced vervet monkeys are among the animals you can expect to see.

However, the most exciting prospect in the south of Akagera national park is the Rhino! The rhinos live in this part of the park which is the natural habitat for them and if lucky may see them. After lunch, you shall go out for the boat safari on Lake Ihema at 3pm. Lake Ihema is the largest lake in the park and second largest in Rwanda. The boat safari will provide among other sightings: hippos, crocodiles, monitor lizards and plenty of water birds.

Full Safari In Akagera And Transfer Back To Kigali

Early breakfast, check out of the hotel by 6:30 a.m., and depart for your full 6-hour safari in Akagera . Driving along the main game route will take you through a variety of ecosystems, including acacia thickets, woodland, bushes, and savanna grassland, which will provide a diversity of animals and species as well as different views, from the south of the park to the north and exit. You'll stop along the way at wetlands and lakeshores to observe wildlife and birds as well as enjoy the stunning scenery. The "hippo beach," where hippos in groups and crocodiles in packs can be seen lazing in the shallows of the wetlands, is a particularly noteworthy stop. The Kilala plains in the park's north are finally reached by staying on the main trail. The primary game viewing region of the park is the Kilala plains, which are home to a large number of animals. This area of lovely savanna grasslands, almost devoid of vegetation, is home to sizable herds of grazing animals and offers unobstructed vistas. Here, you can frequently see buffalo, zebra, topi, impala, elephants, and warthogs, among other creatures. The plains are a preferred hunting habitat for lions, hyenas, and other predators due to the abundance of antelopes and other grazing animals. Woodlands and thickets are found on the edges of the plains, where browsers like giraffes and elephants can be sighted. Predators such as the lions are often found taking shelter from the afternoon heat under trees, satisfied from the successful morning hunt in the Kilala plains! After the game drive shall have picnic lunch, exit the park and travel back to Kigali.

Gorilla Trekking And Transfer Kibale Forest National Park

We drive a short distance to the park headquarters for a briefing after an early-morning breakfast and with your picnic lunch. There, we meet the superb local guides and trackers who deliver a discussion on the proper conduct when trekking with gorillas. After that, we make a journey into the jungle to a location where gorillas were spotted the night before, and we track from there. Depending on the family's location and the altitude, which must be over 7,500 feet, trekking could take anywhere from 1 to 6 hours. The muddy, uneven terrain demands that you be physically fit. Despite the hike's physical difficulty , it is enjoyable because of how lovely the forest and surroundings are. It is advised that you bring a lot of water on the walk. Cameras and a wide selection of fast-moving films are advised. As a tropical rain forest, it might rain at any time, so you should pack waterproof gear as well as zip-top bags for cameras and film. Strong hiking or walking shoes, long pants, gloves, and a raincoat are other items to bring. After passing through Queen Elizabeth National Park, continue on to Kibale Forest National Park where you will arrive in the late evening for dinner and the night.
