For the first time in over a decade, CHOGM will be held in Africa and Rwanda as a country is honored to have been chosen by the Commonwealth Leaders to be the host of this year’s CHOGM.

CHOGM is the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting that is usually held every two years to bring together its member states to discuss on different global issues, come up with and brainstorm on different ideas and strategies of how to confront these concerns.

The previous meeting was held in London in 2018 and the next was supposed to be held in June 2020, but due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the meeting had to be postponed and is now scheduled for June 2022 in Rwanda.

The theme of CHOGM 2018 was “Towards a Common Future” and CHOGM 2022 theme is “Delivering a Common Future: Connecting, Innovating, and Transforming” This will most likely be about deliverables on what had previously been discussed in London.

Hosting this summit means a lot for Rwanda and her citizens because it comes with it international exposure as the visitors who will be attending the event will be taking a taste and view of Rwanda back home to their people.
